Time Out Step

This morning, Brinley (in all her morning hair glory) proudly sat on the time out step! She wasn't officially IN time out, perhaps she was just practicing. Makenzie wasn't in time out either, and it's easy to tell because when she is in time out on this step, she's never calmly sitting; she's normally flailing around and crying.

Last night, Dave had a big talk with Makenzie about the way she says no. Because lately, she likes to say no in a very sassy, loud, defiant tone when we ask her to do anything. He explained to her that she should respectfully say, no thank you or no ma'am or no sir. This morning while I was chopping onions to put in the crock pot for dinner, with Brinley hanging onto my leg, I asked Makenzie to get Brinley's sippy cup for her. Makenzie looked up at me, smiled, and said, "no thank you."

I guess she listens to what we say! I just had to sigh to myself and thank her for saying it nicely.
