One & Three

One candle.

Three candles.

Party dresses!

Brinley is one! Her first year went by faster than any other.

Her first birthday started with a little mommy-daughter time at 3 am. She really had no reason to wake up, and she was groggily happy, so I just enjoyed the quiet time with my birthday girl.

Makenzie's third birthday started with her excitedly proclaiming, "I'm THREE!"

When we knew their birthdays would be one day apart, we decided to celebrate each one on their actual day. Friday night for Brinley, we had cupcakes. Three big ones. And we split them between 6 of us. Makenzie blew out Brinley's birthday candle because that's what great big sisters do.

We had a party on Saturday for both, but mostly for Makenzie, since Saturday was her day! She was so excited when everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. We've been singing that song when she washes her hands. (You're supposed to hum it twice while washing your hands, but singing it with an *almost* three year old takes at least that long).

Makenzie's favorite things to start off her third year are: the park, riding her tricycle to the park, Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Cat In The Hat, Playdoh, finger paints, Caillou, her umbrella, rocks, worms, macaroni & cheese (often requested for breakfast), chocolate goldfish, jelly beans, and her Ipod.

Brinley's favorites are: strawberries, stuffed animal puppies, farm puzzle, crawling around with things hanging out of her mouth, baby goldfish, bananas, and babbling. She doesn't yet walk, which I think may be a good thing because she does not like to sit still.

Brinley snuggling with her new pillow pet.

New friends! When they were ready to go to the park, Makenzie told me, "my boys (and Sydney) want to go to the park".

Cupcake!

After a much needed bath!

Turning one also means a forward-facing carseat. She loves to look out the sunroof at the trees, which sometimes puts her to sleep.

Here she is with the Birthday Bear. You won't see much of his face in these. Brinley was more interested in picking him up or hugging him rather than sit still next to him.

Hanging on the monkey bars. She wouldn't let go!
